The collection starts at 1 with the "Seeds of Love" and the first morris tunes are those taken down at Headington the day after Boxing Day 1899. The last morris tune is number 4975 Room for the Cuckoo from Gomme at Horton cum Stubley (Wheatley) collected on 10th September 1923 and so cover almost 24 years. The tunes for one informant or village tend to come together in groups but in some cases Sharp made more that one visit.
The manuscripts i.e.the Folk Dance Tunes and Folk Dance Notes show that Sharp was not consistent in the way he recorded notation. In some cases usually the galley traditions the notation is to be found in Folk Dance Tunes but at other times the notation is to be found in the Folk Dance Notes.
The Links below refer to a major informant or village tradition but will include other individual tunes and their informant/s. From the list that is generated it will be possible to download the tune in "abc notation" and then convert it to printed notation and play it using Music Assistant. An * denotes that the ABC notation is not currently available but tle list is being updated all the time. The last link contains all the tunes that are embedded in the other groups. Music Assistant can convert the ABC notation to MIDI so that they can be played to a good quality especiality on REAL PAYER.
A + sign will indicate where there is some or all of the notation for a dance or tradition in Folk Dance Tunes
